Historic Markers Across Alabama

Welcome to the Lat34North, Historic Markers Across Alabama. There are several web sites (see links at the left) that have information on the Historic Markers throughout AL. I have used several sources to collect this information, including personally visiting many of the Historic Markers. The Alabama Historical Association was founded in 1947 and is the oldest statewide historical society in Alabama. The Alabama Historical Commission was created by an act of the state legislature in 1966 with a mission of safeguarding Alabama’s historic buildings and sites and also erects historic markers statewide. The Alabama Bureau of Tourism & Travel has erected over 200 historic marker statewide.
